About the Interviewee

Brenna Lansden

Brenna Lansden, a native of Appalachia, transitioned from her role as a TV news anchor to become a registered nurse and lactation consultant. She’s always wanted to make a positive impact on her community. To help achieve her goal of making a more profound and positive impact on people’s lives, she left the field of journalism to enroll in nursing school at West Virginia University. Brenna is a two-time graduate from the School of Nursing at WVU. She completed the BA to BSN program in 2015 and, more recently, the post-MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate program in 2023. Additionally, she holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Marshall University and a master's degree in nursing education. Currently, she is a family nurse practitioner and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) at WVU Medicine in Morgantown. She enjoys working in Family Medicine as it allows her to care for patients in every stage of life. With pride and dedication, she extends her expertise in health and lactation care to all patients within the Appalachia region and beyond.

Erin Fields

Erin Fields works as the Program Director in the West Virginia University Office of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment, where she focuses primarily on student recruitment and marketing. She is a 2019 graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising and a 2021 graduate of West Virginia University with a Master of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. She has a passion for helping and guiding students through the graduate school process from initially inquiring to submitting an application. In her spare time outside of her position at the university, you can find her helping out at church, collecting Pokémon cards, or cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs!
