About the Interviewee

Akiel Baker

Hello! I'm Akiel Baker, originally from Bowie, MD, but currently residing in Harrisonburg, VA. I'm pursuing my MSW degree at West Virginia University. As a social worker, I'm passionate about serving underserved youth, and I'm proud to work with On the Road Collaborative, a youth empowerment organization that provides academic and mentoring support to young people in need. When I'm not working, I enjoy painting, cooking, and playing video games, and I always appreciate connecting with people from different backgrounds. My future goal is to open my own non-profit organization to serve youth and provide them with the necessary resources to achieve their full potential. With my education, experience, and dedication to social work, I'm confident that I can make a significant impact on the lives of young people.
